58th Lupton Family Reunion
The 58th Lupton Family Reunion was held at the Goose Creek Island Community Center in Hobucken, NC, on Saturday, August 9, 2014 with 75 in attendance.
Our President, Lee Edwards, opened the meeting and welcomed all, especially the newcomers and blessed the food.
Leroy Lupton, who had never missed a Lupton Reunion, was not able to be with us today due to illness. Gladys has perfect attendance since she began attending in 1976.
Joan and Garnett Leary were with us again this year and brought Joan's sister, Ruth, with them. Joan took many pictures during the Reunion.
Betty Jo Rodgers, Lupton descendent, and pastor of the Aurora United Methodist Church, sand several beautiful songs, "Midnight Cry," "Just a Closer Walk With Thee," and "for Such a Time as This." Betty Jo's husband, Roy, is now the new pastor of the Hobucken United Methodist Church. She has agreed to do a program on her mother, Anis L. Qwaltney, next year.
Shirley spoke about the decedents and the cemeteries. She recognized Bruce Lupton as having 8 family members present. Martha Stilley and sister, Linda, also had 8 members present.
Jack Goodwin from Cedar Island invited everyone to the Goodwin-Daniels Family Reunion the second Sunday in October at Cedar Island. He also wanted to announce that he was a new great grandfather. He also thought it would be a good idea to have the 60th Lupton Reunion in Cedar Island. The 50th was held there with over 200 people present.
Gladys announced that she and Susie Hopkins are still working on the Hopkins book and should have this ready for sale in three years. There are over 2,700 names in this book.
Audrey Lupton announced that there will be a 95th birthday party for Ray Lupton at their home in Lowland on August 23, 2014, from 2-5 p.m. Everyone is invited.

The 59th Lupton Family Reunion will again be held at the Goose Creek Island Community Center on Saturday, August 8, 2015.
