      James Thomas Lupton, Sr., of Goose Creek, died June 27, 2009.

      Born in Beaufort, NC, he was the son of the late William A. Lupton and Polly Mason Lupton.

      James served his country as a Merchant Seaman during WWII. He worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard and was a self-employed welder when he retired.

      He attended Calvary Church of the Nazarene of Goose Creek.

      He was the widower of Mary Ida Dantzler Lupton and was also preceded in death by his daughter, Lois Bennett. He is survived by his two sons, James T. Lupton, Jr., and wife Brenda of Goose Creek and Charles "Skip" Lupton and wife, Rose Mary of West Ashley; a brother, George Lupton of North Charleston; three sisters, Libby Evans, Daisy Jones both of Ritter, SC and Dora Gerard of Morehead City, NC; thirteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
