Joseph Elwood LUPTON, 80, of Dowdy's Bay Road, a retired machinist, died Aug. 3, 1990, in his home. Mr. LUPTON, a native of Currituck, had retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a fishing and hunting guide. Survivors include his wife, Janie Gallop LUPTON; three daughters, Dawn DAIL of Pensacola, Fla., Fay JENNINGS of Colorado and Jackie DAIL of Elizabeth City; a step-daughter, Shelby LANGLEY of Grandy; a brother, Willie LUPTON of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Powells Point Christian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Cecil STYONS. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City, is handling arrangements. (The Virginian-Pilot ? August 4, 1990; pg. B2)
