      SWAN QUARTER - Mary Lupton Raburn SAWYER, 79, of Route 1, died Feb. 25 at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington. Mrs. Sawyer was born in Sladesville Community of Hyde County, daughter of the late Walter and Lenora Cullipher Lupton. She was a homemaker, a nurse's aide with Pungo District Hospital and a member of the Swan Quarter Christian Church. She was first married to Joseph M. Raburn, who preceded her in death in 1961 and later married Reuben E. Sawyer, Jr. who died in 1969. Survivors are three sons: James Madison Raburn of St. George, Utah; John P. Raburn and Joseph W. "J.W." Raburn, both of Swan Quarter; four daughters: Harriet R. Pendleton of St. George, Utah; Lenora R. Bright and Doris R. Cahoon, both of Swan Quarter, and Josephine R. Haywood of Portsmouth, Va.; a brother, James L. Lupton of Hampton, Va.; five stepdaughters: Ruth S. Hopkins of High Point, Zella S. Stassfort of Marietta, Ga., Gloria S. Fotusky of Norfolk, Va., Mary Lou Sawyer of Panama City, Fla. and Rachel S. McCain of Florida; three stepsons: Floyd W. Sawyer, Jr. and William D. Sawyer, both of Belhaven, Rueben E. Sawyer, Jr. of Manns Harbor; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grand- children, 14 step-grandchildren, and 26 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter Mary Lou R. Clausing in 1992. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday from the chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Bclhaven, conducted by Mike Cayton and Phil Emmert. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Church of Christ Cemetery, Route 1. Belhaven. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will he at her home, Route 1, Swan Quarter. In lieu of. flowers, memorials may he made to the Swan Quarter Christian Church, Swan Quarter. (The Coastland Times-Tuesday, March 1, 1994)
