- The origin of Christopher LUPTON is not known with any certainty. The common belief is that he originated from a LUPTON line in the area of Cape May, New Jersey.
There is a memorial marker in the Pilgrims Rest Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery on Cedar Island, NC that states he was born circa 1720 in Cape May. This marker was placed there in 1990. So one can say that, while not proven, the information is now set in stone.
Some evidence of the New Jersey origin is a will of a Christopher LUPTON that was proven around March of 1733. Some info on this follows:
